Svetoprestavleniye Sergey Kalmykov
Almaty, KZ/Moscow, RU, 2018
A large-scale performative device in the form of technological mystery
"Svetoprestavleniye Sergey Kalmykov" is an experimental perfromance-portal to the higher dimension, which later was called the Universal Composition. The perfromance-portal incorporated theatre, performance, electric and machine engineering, electronic and live music, alternative scientific-technological inventions, mostly made of trash and garbage: a six-legged 300-kilogram walking refrigerator, a 200 sq. meter cardboard light display of 900 cells, a quartet of robotized self-playing Kazakh instruments "dombra" and a lightning bolts from a supercharged Tesla coil. The main subject of the experiment was to build the portal using Sergey Kalmykov's 8 Laws of Composition and to check if a human researcher can go through the portal and penetrate the higher dimension. Alexandra Morozova acted as such a researcher who passed through the portal and encountered the Universal Composition directly.
The project took place in 2018 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, was a headliner at the New Drama-2018 international theatre festival in Moscow, Russia, and was nominated for Gran-Prix of Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award.
