The Performance “Medea.Material” Nominated for the Sergey Kuryokhin Award

“This is one of the most important events for the project Medea.Material. First, we were inspired in our work on the performance by Kuryokhin’s creative genius and his incredible freedom; second, it is a presentation of our performance to a jury composed of some of the most outstanding figures of contemporary Russian art; third, the longlist of the Prize has included works by such masters and collectives as Boris Yukhananov, Andrey Bartenev, Andriy Zholdak, Vladimir Rannev, and Olga Shishko,” said Rustem Begenov, director of the performance Medea.Material.


The Sergey Kuryokhin Prize is an annual Russian award in the field of contemporary art, established in 2009 by the Sergey Kuryokhin Foundation and Center for Contemporary Art. In 2016, the jury included Alexander Borovsky, Olga Shishko, Anatoly Belkin, and Leonid Bazhanov; the board of trustees included Mikhail Piotrovsky, Vladimir Gusev, Vasily Tsereteli, Vladimir Smirnov, Konstantin Sorokin, and others.
