Pop-mechanical performance "Medea.Material"
Almaty, KZ/Moscow, RU, 2016
The interdisciplinary stage project for 16 models, 6 musicians, 4 screens, 3 cameras, and 2 voices based on the texts by Heiner Muller and Olzhas Suleimenov
A technogenic mystery for sixteen models, six musicians, four screens, three cameras and two voices at the intersection of theater, performance, a concert of contemporary academic music and automatic ballet. Based on the texts of Heiner Müller "Medea.Material" and Olzhas Suleimenov "AZ and Ya".
The first production of Heiner Müller's texts in the history of Kazakhstani theater is solved in the aesthetics of landscape musical theater, where music, technology, bodies, scenography, costumes and text are in equal relations and are equal in strength of presence. The project raises questions about the place of women's beauty in the modern extremely technological and totally objectified world, as well as about the role of the female voice in the liberating revision of literary and political myths of the past.
Pop-mechanical performance "Medea.Material" participated in the New European Theatre NET-2016 International festival in Moscow, Russia, and was nominated for Gran-Prix of Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award.
