Zharyqopera Overture Ñ. Ğ. Q. is an experimental light opera and performative composition developed by ORTA and directed by Rustem Begenov in Almaty.
Positioned as the first work of its kind in Kazakhstan, the project introduced a new genre—zharyqopera (light opera)—in which light operates as a primary compositional and dramaturgical force alongside sound, voice, and movement.
Dedicated to Sergey Kalmykov as a genius of the first rank, the work was conceived as a video overture to ORTA’s long-term project The Strip of Immortality—an open-ended artistic program that included the Month of Sergey Kalmykov, the premiere of Svetoprestavleniye Sergey Kalmykov, and its presentation at the New Drama International Theatre Festival at the Meyerhold Center.
